So Long.

I’m here to tell you it’s a see you under a different name, not a goodbye. I am undecided of the name. I am closing this wonderful blog because it is time to go in a different direction and that I am wanting to make a change. My niches are still the same and maybe they’ll even grow under my new blog. But I wanted to make it official for a blog that I’ve kept the longest. It’s been seven months since creating this site but it’s been a joyous ride. It’s okay to enjoy a new one. It is with hope that under the new name to keep pursuing blogging beyond the year of 2020. This blog was just going to be for the year. I genuinely appreciate you, your thoughts and comments and hope you’ll stay with me through this new phase.

Favorite Sunflower Items

*Original Photo Taken.*

I love sunflowers and since it’s so close to summer have been craving them more, as of lately. In between time, of getting to see them in person, I came up with a list as to some of my themed items. Sometimes the things we like affect our personal choices. It makes me smile when one of my friends sends me a picture of them because they know how much I like them. Kind of like with pet pictures too. These made it to the top:

#1. Local business Sunflower Necklace

#2. Homemade Sunflower Ornaments

#3. Sunflower Wooden sign that says, ‘Live Free.’

#4. Simply Southern Sunflower TShirts

#5. Simply Southern Sunflower Wallet

Music Album

*Own Original Artwork*

A question I used to like to ask people to get to know them better, is if you were to create an album, what you name it? I got a lot of fun answers but then it made me think of mine. Even though it’s been many years since I’ve asked this, my answer still stays the same. My first album would be called Closer To Tears. It’s not necessarily a one hit wonder album because many songs would be radio-worthy but it would be probably heavily influenced by favorite singers. With the sound of a piano, ballads and storytelling that would be featured in this album created by me. I can’t decide if I would draw my own cover art or would want a photo shoot. The songs itself would be played in many movie soundtracks because it would be that different but in a good way. Kind of like the soundtrack 500 Days of Summer or Country Strong.

But what you should probably know is that I’m not much of a singer. That I can’t always understand all the words to a song. But music still speaks to me as I get lost in the lyrics of a perfectly good harmony. What would you call your album?

Five Things I Can’t Live Without

Five Things I Can’t Live Without

Today I thought it would be a good idea to go over some of the things I can’t live without. It’s important to remember what we love during life changing times. Sure there are a lot more basic things such as air, food, and even toothbrushes but I am trying to make my list a good combination of what’s needed and more personalized, individually.

#1. Having a safe place to live; shelter, a home: This is pretty self explanatory even though there are people out there who cannot say this, which is a different kind of sadness. Having a roof over one’s head is the first one I could think of because we all want to know things are going to be okay.

#2. Family and friends: Again, this one is fairly obvious but I felt necessary to put it in here because while even though there are moments when I need my space and quiet, I know I need other moments being surrounded by good people and the ones I love.

#3. Harry Potter Marathons: Yes, this is one of my silly things. I grew up reading the books and have read them many times. I think most of the time when they are playing on television, I am watching them. Sometimes it’s on as background noise but I still have them being played.

#4. Wearing jewelry: I wasn’t sure about this one, because it could be perceived as a little shallow and superficial. But I want to explain. This is a big thing as to how I dress up an outfit. It could be sweats, jeans and a T-shirt but throw on the right kind of sparkle and you got this. I’m not that terribly into labels or big designers and I find it impractical to wear high heels. So what I lack for in shoes, I make up for.

#5. Having grace or being worthwhile: These are two very important values I hold dearly. Having grace is a more recent thing as of last year. Trying to hold myself to a standard and worthwhile is a variation of an adjective from a family name.

Happy June!

*Original Photo Taken*

The trees are a lovely shade of green, as there are still signs of spring in the air. However, Memorial Day is now behind us and am looking forward to the summer that is coming. A long time ago, I used to think of the season as magical. But as I’ve gotten older, there are still things that make it special. Such as the fireflies, summer nights, sunflowers and sometimes ocean breezes. These are the things I hold onto that make the season one to remember. That make the hot days bareable and the sunsets at night more beautiful. It doesn’t hurt if there’s a frozen treat involved and while some pool days are nice, not always up for the water. Or maybe the sunburn afterwards. June is National Candy Month and the signs Gemini and Cancer are up in the zodiacs. The birthstone is a pearl and we are a little more than half way through the year. (I am guilty for thinking about Halloween and Christmas already!) I can’t forget about Father’s day. I have a feeling this summer is going to be a little different than others but also have this feeling that it can still be a good one.

Bucket List Item Denied

Lavender Farm Bucket List

One of my ideal things to do locally, once again, has been put off. It’s to visit a lavender farm. Every year we keep thinking oh it will be there and was proven wrong this time. I want to be able to stroll through the purple sea and enjoy the breath taking scenery before me. I want to experience the life that surrounds the place and maybe purchase a reminder of what the day was like. Now, I will do my best to avoid the bees as I’m sure are there too but will still love the idea. There have been other times when I could have gone by myself but wanted to share it with a family member. I have heard great things and seen flat out gorgeous pictures of nature so that’s part of its appeal but the fact that we had a few options of going some place close to home really hit hard. Mostly, I am known for liking sunflowers but am not opposed to other beautiful plants. A lavender farm seemed like a good alternative.

While doing a little research on the flower, lavender is apparently used to treat back pain and insomnia by the Ancient Greeks. If true then I should always keep a bouquet around just for their healing properties. It’s meaning is purity, devotion, serenity, grace and calmness. Last but not least, it is known for its beauty, fragrance and multi purposes.

I hope one year I will get to go to a lavender farm.

Quotes About Magic

*Original Photo Taken*

I have a small obsession with quotes and I love words because when I can’t eloquently put together my own thoughts sometimes someone else has nailed it perfectly. While, I recognize the bottom list is  not totally obsession, it does paint a picture using only black and white of books and magic. I read one book during stay-at-home and kinda in that in-between phase of wanting to read another but enjoying the downtime. But it is summer and maybe I’ll get to finish all the books I have already started. Sometimes reading is like an escape. So I hope these quotes below are something one can escape too.

#1. “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” - Roald Dahl

#2. “I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a book.” - JK Rowling

#3. “Books are uniquely portable magic.” - Stephen King

Happy Memorial Day

*Original Photo Taken*

Happy Memorial Day! Even though today is a day of rememberance, I still enjoy basic things that help bring out the best of this holiday. I’m not a big healthy eater so eating watermelon doesn’t do it for me. However, I do remember the poppies being worn and the flags being waved. Sometimes there’s even sparklers and hamburgers. If one is lucky, there might be a pool or lake involved. Memorial Day is also kind of like the kick off to a beautiful summer, whereas Labor Day is marking the end of one. I also remember learning about this holiday in school and Flanders Field. It is extra fun when you get to celebrate with the ones you love.

And it’s gotten me to thinking about heroes and heroines. Nowadays, our heroes look like grocery workers, nurses and other front line essential workers. Not only the ones that our protecting our country. That they don’t necessarily need a cape and superhuman strength to battle the new normal. What the future Memorial days will look like? That maybe this holiday being celebrated today, our only superpower is to make it fun and enjoyable.

comfortable experience while at home

Experience On Being Comfortable At Home

*Original Photo Taken*

I remember the first time I put on a pair of jeans, during quarantine. Thank God it wasn’t as bad as had imagined but it definitely felt weird. For the most part of this stay-at-home I’ve been wearing anything comfortable. Except towards the later days, when I go in for work, putting on my uniform. It ranges from shorts, sweatpants to Simply Southern TShirts. I’m still not wearing normal clothes often  but am not as sloppy either. I pull my hair back in a pony tail because my hair is the longest it’s ever been. EVER! I wear my accessories to feel normal. If I really wanted to, I could go out in public wearing a mask and being safe. I can’t say that I’ve taken the bra off during this time but there were times I really wanted to. But there were moments when I gave my hair a break from washing the night before. So I’d say I did alright and am a complete fan of being in everything soft. I even got more sweatpants because I felt they were needed to be around the house. Apparently, this is an interesting topic during the coronavirus. Should we even put on pants is a question I’m sure others have wondered. Rest assured that is covered while I’m typing away this post, so no surprises. :) It does make me appreciate the value of dressing down for the day or sometimes.

Rainy Days

Rainy Days

*Original Picture Taken*

Some people live for rainy days. It’s a chance to not go out if you don’t have to, curl up on the couch and watch a good movie or read a book. One of the downsides is sometimes it’s hard to sleep too. You hear the winds thrash the windows or you hear the pitter patter against the window. There are those who like to have a good cry when it rains because of both the beauty and sadness, rain brings. While some things are good, I can’t help but think that there’s something more to the rain. Like it helps makes nature grow, for example. But maybe it’s more of how calm it is after the storm passes. That life has many storms and once they disappear, sometimes you wonder what created that storm in the first place. Maybe it could also be apart of some sort of test or something, like what other people notice about how you handle a rainy day. Do you skid on the surface because there’s so much water or do you just occasionally wistfully look out the window?

I love the ones who live for rainy days because there’s something endearing about it. It’s like still getting excited when  the sky changes color or how pretty the moon is. The little things in life that makes things awespiring. I’m in between. Some times a rainy day is what’s needed to slow down and  other days it’s nothing but an inconvenience because there are things I’d rather be doing. Nature is working itself saying it’s not just that, that’s growing but you will grow with the rain fall. That when it rains, not only does it pour, but it’s a chance to be calm. Be calm with the rain.

Why I Love Harry Potter Marathons

Why I Love Harry Potter Marathons

Harry Potter books have been apart of my life since a young age. I remember getting the first book, a little skeptical, but then reading them with my family. It takes a while to really get into the book but once you do, you won’t be able to put them down. Then I remember wanting the sequel and then the third. The rest is kind of history. I’ve read the book series numerous times. Like each book more than four times. In any kind of game involving Harry Potter I’m a good one to have on a team. Then there are the movies, which is a different kind of magic in itself. Here are a few reasons why I love Harry Potter movie marathons:

#1. I strongly believe they are played faster on television. Even with commercials. It’s a pretty solid version of the book.

#2. You can generally watch them all in a few days. Usually, it’s not just one film adaption being played. It’s all eight movies. It gives you a chance to be with Harry from beginning to end.

#3. I honestly hope that these classic films NEVER get remade. That they remain untouched and stay like this forever. They’re just soo good.

#4. The actors and actresses in these film are all British. They are talented, well known and portray their character well. Even if you didn’t like them!

#5. They’re one of those kind of stories that you can watch over and over again. Even some of the behind-the-scenes interviews are interesting.

Saint Anything Thoughts And Summary

Life is Like a Carousel...

*My own original photo taken*

Besides JK Rowling, one of my other favorite young adult authors is Sarah Dessen. I know through social media she experienced something kinda hard last year but I still read and like her books. I have now read eight out of fourteen of them. The latest is something I was lead to believe as a fan favorite, Saint Anything. Even if I have a little negative thoughts about them, I still enjoy reading these stories.  I keep going, as it’s one of my goals to complete all of them.

My perspective: I couldn’t really relate to the main female character and found her invisibility a little annoying. Why couldn’t she just voice how she felt about hard situations? I also felt that this edition was a little bit darker than some of her others and maybe longer too. I also could not stand the mother. I did, however, love the fierce female friendship between the main character and a different one. Wish there was more of something else too but overall not a bad book. There were some dislikes but I still got something out of the reading material. It had been sitting on my shelf for a while and was itchy to read a book. So knowing it would still be good I picked this one. One last thing, make sure you have some yum yums (lollipops) or French fries while reading this book. I wish someone told me that before reading!

A summary: Sydney is the younger sibling to her older and only brother, Peyton. He is the focus of the family from praise to concern. But when his behavior becomes so reckless that it involves a drunk driving incident, she seems to be the only one who cares about the victim. When Peyton receives even more concentration from his folks, Sydney is left to think of herself. Until one day Sydney meets and kind of becomes part of a family who is nothing like her own. It is here that she enters a judgement-free zone and meets different people. This book has many themes such as family, love, and new found discoveries. The twelfth Sarah Dessen book.

My Fave Nail Polish Colors

*Original Photo Taken*

My Favorite Nail Polish Colors

I’ve never been the kind of girl who pays big money to get her nails professionally done. I would rather spend $10 - $15 individually on the bottles of nail polish and do them myself. It’s kind of fun and in a way, very soothing to just paint your nails a solid color. I’ve been painting my nails a little bit more than usual but on a normal schedule don’t always get to do them as often as I would like too. My favorite brand is Essie nail polish. It used to be OPI but I’m not sure exactly what I got tired of. I like finding nice colors too add to my growing collection. One can never have too many nail polishes. Even if it’s of the same color, they all are a little different in shades. I decided to conjur up a list of the colors I use most often:

#1. Red
#2. Blue
#3. Purple
#4. Neutrals
#5. Black

Thoughts On Disney Family Singalong

Thoughts On Disney Family Singalong

After watching both editions of the Disney Family Singalong, I can honestly say there wasn’t much singing a long but fond memories of classic favorites. From new ones such as How I’ll Go to Hakuna Matata. It was feel good and fun to be reminded of some of the music out there. So in honor of this event, if I were gifted by the music gods and had a talented voice these would be my choices:

#1. I See The Light from Tangled
#2. Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from Lilo and Stitch
#3. What’s This from the Nightmare Before Christmas

Mother’s Day

*Original Artwork Drawn*

Happy Mother’s Day

In the past, I have written down favorite moms from television shows like Karen Roe from One Tree Hill. But for this Mother’s Day, I’m going to blog about what mom means to me.

* * *

Motherhood is something I’ve never considered for myself but something I’ve always respected other women who choose that lifestyle. Normally I really get along well with them. Not just my own mother who goes through it but also now my sister, who’s a new mom. So this holiday is really special because it’s the first time she gets to experience it.

I used to work at a restaurant part time a long with my current job, the one I have now. This holiday was particularly an eye opener because I had never seen so many mothers not wanting to cook. In hospitality, Mother’s Day is the biggest day of the year. Not just that but the amount of people it takes to work on their special day.

I don’t remember too many breakfasts in bed, but there were handmade cards, gifts when I got older and nice dinners out. So I guess I’m saying we fell into that pattern to, if we could.

This Mother’s Day is a little different. Believe it or not I actually do have one small gift to give that I had tucked aside from Christmas. Gifts is a traditional activity to partake in because it shows how much mothers really mean to us and all that they do. I also always like pictures with my mom on a Mother’s Day because it captures the memory. Sometimes I try to help do little things that will make it easier.

So celebrating family isn’t cancelled this year. It’s something we can still enjoy. How are you going to recognize the holiday this year?

What I Learned

*Original Photo Taken*

What I Learned During Stay-At-Home-Shelter

This is the day where it’s allowed to go into phase one for businesses. So still no hair cuts but being allowed to leave the house. I have been back at work for a little bit now and hasn’t been that bad. It’s actually been pretty slow and not as much animals to look after. The work load just means more cleaning. Wearing face masks isn’t as big a deal especially since some still don’t but practicing social distancing. Sometimes while wearing them for long periods of time, they can obscure the vision but it can be adjusted.

Anyways, that’s about it. Here are a few more things I learned while being ‘safe’ not STUCK at home.

Number One: Coloring can have a calming effect.
Even before the pandemic, I always liked to draw. I’m also particularly good at tracing. When the pen hits the smooth surface of the paper, an instant peace takes over. It can be like meditation or something that is repetitive. This helped keep me busy and in the end came out with some pretty artwork.

Number Two: Zoom Meetings and Other Social Media.
You don’t have to do every Zoom meeting your invited to. Sometimes it’s just nice to say hello everyonce in a while to let them know you’re still doing okay. To be updated. If one doesn’t feel like doing video calls all the time, a good alternative is to follow the social channels and stay connected. I do this for work and a social program I attend. I am on my screen a lot. But I’m also a millennial and generally am anyways.

Number Three: Cleaning!
Oh my gosh, you guys! My room goals have never been so strong. For the past year, my room has not looked like my room because my family and I are about to move. Nothing is going up on the walls and the color is a gray. But I feel like the items and belongings I have left are things I want with me when we go to the new home. I just weeded out further on the art supplies, weeded through bookshelves and am keeping up regularly cleaning.

Number Four: Exercise.
Eh this one for me could still use a little more work. I know my dog wouldn’t mind. Walking, running and even golfing is still encouraged because they want us to get out there more. However, this makes me nervous too, because whenever I do this activity, there are always several people doing the same thing. Usually I have never seen this many people get concerned about their health. But it’s not for me to judge. Just try and keep a safe distance from others and go about my work out.

Number Five: Speak Words of Kindness or Acts of Kindness.
If you’re like me, then you also live with your parents. So it’s important to think of others and not just yourself. A little compliment can go a long way or going out of your way to do something thoughtful to help out a little. Make sure that they are able to do their job and take care of yourself during those business hours.

This virus makes me appreciate things a whole lot more and to not take things for granted. I didn’t think that level of gratitude could be taken further but it does. As of now, we’re on the home stretch. Keep being safe at home. I always get annoyed when people say stuck at home. Because if you think about it it’s a time to realize what’s important and do things that are good for you.

My Five Fave Snacks

*Original Photo Taken*

Over the weekend, I had one of my all time favourite snacks, which is Sourpatch Watermelon. I haven’t had them in a while. I love how sweet they get, once the sour is gone. That one is always a must for me, especially when traveling or going somewhere in the car, and needing something extra special. Sometimes it could be other sweet treats too. So today on the blog, I am discussing unhealthy popular munching items.

#1. Sourpatch kid berries or watermelon
#2. Pringles (Original flavored or Sour Cream and Onion) yeaup
#3. Welch’s Fruit Snacks
#4. York Peppermint Patty’s
#5. Wheat Thins

Everyone’s got them, what are yours? Is it a late night snack or just something to eat out of hunger? There are others I did think of but sometimes they can be crossed categorized. Do I just munch or save them for another time? Just some food for thought.

Happy Birthday Adele!

*Original Photo Taken*

As you might remember, Adele is my all time favorite singer/musician. What I love about her music is that she’s so soulful. Her voice and her lyrics are an powerful combination. The singers birthday is on May 5th and wanted to create a songlist of my top favorite from hers. As you can tell, most of the absolute favorites come from a classic in my book, which is her album 21. But tried to add some old favorites as well others. I think that Adele fans are called daydreamers.

#1. Hometown Glory by Adele
#2. Someone Like You by Adele
#3. Rolling In The Deep by Adele
#4. Set Fire To The Rain by Adele
#5. Turning Tables by Adele
#6. Rumor Has It by Adele
#7. River Lea by Adele
#8. Hello by Adele
#9. Make You Feel My Love by Adele
#10. Chasing Pavements by Adele

Happy Birthday Audrey Hepburn!

The lovely Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite actors. I posted about her death back in January but today, on May 4th, we celebrate her 91st birthday. So much for a Star Wars day because in this blog today is Audrey Hepburn day. To make it memorable I’m including a list of some of my favorite quotes by her.

“Living is like through tearing through a museum. Not until later do really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book and remembering - because you can’t take it in all at once.”

“Paris is always a good idea.”

“A woman can be beautiful as well as intellectual.”

“La Ve En Rose is the French way of saying, ‘I’m looking at the world through a rose tinted glass.’”

“Your heart just breaks, that’s all. But you can’t judge or point fingers. You just have to be lucky enough to find someone who appreciates you.”

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge you are never alone.”

Motivation and Inspiration

How Do You Get Inspired and Stay Motivated?

Write a blog. They said. Sure it would be fun. While it is that and many things, what the non-writers don’t understand, is the effort it takes to get a good result for the blog. Even if it’s just a personal one. You still have to get inspired by something. Whether it was what someone said, what your friends are doing or to anything extra special. So I thought it would be good to share the Google definitions of both of these words to help understand two entirely different things:

Inspiration: the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Motivation: the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.

Motivation is the result of action and being able to do something. It keeps you wanting to do more of it. This one is probably a little harder to do than be inspired. It’s easy to stay, in other words, lazy, and not be able to come up with new content. But the point of blogging is to be able to keep having new aspirations. I hope this piece helps because I find both of these words really important when it comes to blogging or something to do with passion. It’s like you can’t have one without the other because then the blogger becomes restless. Start typing away or putting that pen into motion because something amazing is going to come from it!

If I Had A Green Thumb

If I Had A Green Thumb

Believe it or not, I actually can keep a house plant a live. In younger years, I’ve done African Violets and Bamboo plants. My grandmother through my dad’s side was excellent at keeping plants alive. In one of their homes, there was a beautiful garden in the backyard and towards the garage there were plants you could cook with, like Basil. I do remember that. I see fun pictures of people with their gardens and now I’m wondering about the hobby myself. My hypothetical garden would have these plants in them:

#1. Sunflowers: This one is kind of a given. It’s my favorite flower. I know they grow really tall though.
#2. Succulents: I don’t know much about this plant except I think it can be inside and requires sunny spot.
#3. Mint: A garden herb. Can be useful for practical needs, such as cooking.
#4. Basil: Also, the same as Mint.
#5. Rosemary: “                           ”

So my garden doesn’t sound very exciting but maybe there are a few tips I could do to increase my chances.

DIY Flower Chain

*Original Photo Taken*

How To Make A Flower Chain

So today on the blog I’m going to do a project of how to make your own flower chain. This is something your usually taught pretty early on in life but if you want to embrace your wild side you can always make one. In the springtime, there are lots of weed fields that contain white buds and long stems. Use these to make your chain. It’s pretty straightforward from then. You take the end and use your nail to kind of dig a hole towards the end. You don’t want it to be completely at the end because it could break and then having to start over. But close enough works. You do this several times until you have desired length. You could make a necklace or a crown. I prefer a crown so it’s usually pretty short in length. You don’t want the bud to be too open because then it doesn’t look right but just open enough to tell it’s still a flower. And there you have it. How to make a flower chain.

One Year Ago

*Original Photo Taken*

Happiness means a lot of different things. It could mean making sure the wife is not alone, it could mean a nice piece of chocolate, it could even mean a warm puppy. Today it means traveling and adventure. While at the present time, I am safe at home, a year ago today, I was most definitely not. I was far, far away from home in an magical escape called Paris. Where the streets were bustling with people and cars and a cool, historic places. Everything from the Eiffel Tower to Shakespeare In Company. Now whenever I see these landmarks in movies, I think Hey! I’ve been there in person. It just makes it even more special and memorable. It couldn’t have happened without the person I went venturing with, which is someone very close to me. Maybe a few other supportive roles involved too but mostly just us. I’m glad I got to experience it because you just never know. If this Europe trip were to happen in the nowadays, I would be extremely pissed because you can’t. It just goes to show how much a year can make a difference and to start each day with a grateful heart. I would also like to mention, before the Paris traveling there was also London. Where there were great, mighty towers or equally tall buildings to strolling around the city. I didn’t think I would be walking as much as we did but we did know there would be a lot of it. Just didn’t know how much. My foot actually bothered me after the first day but it was worth wobbling on it for the remainder of the trip. Anyways, happiness is sometimes a plane ticket and a whole new outlook. I had only been to one other foreign country before but I was a baby then and don’t remember it. It was to Germany to visit my grandparents, where they worked at the time. Embrace the wanderlust in you, when it is cleared too.

Story By Kimberly

*Original Picture Taken*

The Anklet

A strand of blue and orange beads had been at the bottom of one of her compartments in a jewelry box for the longest time. The longest time, is a bit of an understatement, maybe worn once or twice but since then, haven’t seen the light of day. This colorful strand was that of an ankle bracelet. For the  new first time, a girl, gently pulled it out from the compartment and put it around her right ankle. At first, she put it on the longest length, which she had done the first few times, but then realized quickly that this was too big. So maybe on about the fourth or five length, the clasp fit tight firmly. Can ankles lose weight, the girl thought with curiousity? Um maybe, a little less curious. Her hazel eyes  looked upon the string of colorful beads and didn’t think that differently about it. She just felt like wearing it. The girl then closed the lid of the jewelry box revealing pictures that had never been changed from the display ones. She could hear a family member’s voice asking once, why she never changes it admitting was too hard and didn’t want to make the pictures permanent, was the girl’s response. The girl moved into her bedroom, which didn’t feel like her room for quite sometime now. If she had to venture a guess probably over a year and a half when the personality left. Such as the yellow colored walls and a very expressive bulletin board. Even though her windows were always covered with blinds closed, she moved into the light anyways, wondering if the beads from the delicate thread would catch a glimpse. So it did not. Without giving it that much thought the girl, took a pair of purple flip flops from a beach bag, and walked down the stairs from her bedroom. It was kind of quiet with a few normal toned voices from her parents coming from a different part of upstairs. Taking her glance back from the front corner, she went through the kitchen and into the laundry room. Opened the back door and let the warmth from the sun feel her face. Closing the door behind, the girl proceeded off the porch and into the yard. The grass were like blades of emeralds. And could not feel them tickle her bare skin because the flip flops covered her feet. They weren’t the greatest pair but they looked cute sometimes and served its purpose by helping her walk on harder surfaces like at a pool or on the sandy beach dunes. She went through the yard normally until there was a sunny spot on top of a higher part of the area. It wasn’t necessarily a hill but it was elevated. The strand of blue and orange beads got glimpse of the sun that was radiating from the blue skies. It looked the way she wanted it to look. Sparkly and full of light.

The girl was happy with her ankle bracelet again and never took it off her calf. If she wore sneakers and socks she would simply tuck the chain beneath the white fabric of layers. She spent many summer days with it on and got lots of joy from wearing. That was the odd treasure about this piece of jewelry. That it wasn’t special or given to her by someone important. It was just for her. That sometimes even if the most ordinary of jewelry can be given a meaning.

Apology Note

“Do what you feel in your heart, to be right, for people will criticize you anyways.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

I just want to start off by saying how sorry I am. Truly and really. In 24 hours, I have managed to come up with a new blog and then get discouraged. To then going back to this one, thinking I was going to go on another break again, until things get decided. Officially. I want to thank the people who have been so supportive through this confusing time because I certainly don’t want to create any negativity. I really shouldn’t be allowed to do these things that other normal people can handle and function. But this is a lesson I am learning as I go along. It’s a presence that is being created online. So always be carful what is being put out there. I hope that if there are others who experience this than it is an example of what not to do. If I am to write maybe it will be for myself. Maybe it will be here. Or maybe it will be a new blog when the time is right. But for now just know that this does not change my need to be able to get creative. I thank you all and am so sorry about this difficulty.

What I’m Watching

*Original Artwork Drawn*

What I’m Watching

I like to watch television and movies like anybody else. Even though there have been days where I’ve gone without watching, I still think it’s a good pastime in moderation. This is the screen time that has hit home with me the most.

*Despicable Me: I watched this movie for the first time EVER! I liked it. It finally took me ten years and a theme park ride at Universal to get what people like about it. I thought that some parts where funny. I loved the animation. The only real downside, was I couldn’t personally relate to any of the characters.

*Gilmore Girls: Going on the third time watching this television series. After finishing, the last season it will be a while until I watch it again. I love the mother/daughter relationships and the normal family drama.

*The Adventures of Merlin: It hasn’t been that long since I tried to watch this series and really get into it. It’s about a young warlock whose destiny is to protect the future king. I like the magic element because it reminds me of Harry Potter

And...

*The Secret Life of Pets 2: I loved the first film and I prolonged the second one. I am kinda glad I did because of the storyline. I am at a time in my life where I have added a new title to my name, Aunt. I think during normal time this movie would have met my to never be watched again. I am a little over half way through it. It’s got the same characters as the first one and some new ones.

Why I Returned To Blogging

Hi. It’s me again. After a few weeks away from the blog, I decided the time was right to rejoin the blogging community. It has been a little too quiet over the past several days but I have a few ideas and will try to post content regularly. Hopefully, this means once a week but maybe more, depends. I love blogging. It’s a place that allows me to express my thoughts and communicate them in a creative outlet, with both writing and pictures. Whether their my own or found on the Internet. This will work and I’m glad I kept the SAME one before it met the dreaded delete button like so many others. It’s been six months since starting, remember why you started. :)

Wearing Black

“I’m like Johnny Cash. I only wear black.” - Adele

I like the quote and I love both singers mentioned, even if the statement isn’t entirely true. I changed my profile picture to a one of me in a black shirt and while you can’t tell blue jean capris. I believe in my selfies and that’s what it is. Black used to be a predominant color in my wardrobe along with red and purple. Now I just have a few things that are of the color. I think the closet I currently have is at its best. Even though this virus has me thinking I need more clothes, especially sweatpants. Even though I really need blue jeans. I’m not a big fashion girl. Never have been. And there is nothing wrong with liking big designer labels or wanting to get dressed up all the time. I don’t think I even own a pair of heels simply because my lifestyle doesn’t need them. I don’t take more than half an hour to get ready. It might take slightly longer if I want to curl my hair. So there’s that but as I was saying, getting back to wearing the color black, it is always a staple to have in ones wardrobe. Some might also think it’s timeless and beautiful. I would have to agree. When worn in the elegant way. Not too much of it, not my personal taste. Even a little black on your fingertips can upscale anything.

Sad Note

Hey everyone.

It saddens me to say, that I will not be blogging for a while. I choose this because I still want to remember my life before coronavirus. I do not want this blog to start echoing others and become a source of the pandemic. I want to remember the happy times. Not just in terms of being able to go out and about whenever but also memories and spending it with loved ones. Maybe I will return to this one. Maybe I’ll start a new one when the time comes. Life still goes on if it weren’t for the virus that is now being a big part of our lives.

For me, I have stayed at home for a week. There are things I miss such as going to part time work normally, running errands, being behind the wheel, etc. But I am glad I do not have to miss the air in my lungs, or how pretty a sky can be, or being together with my family. I’m doing the best I can. Trying to not be so afraid of something that could be life or death. Washing my hands and trying to be  more aware.

Sure I could blog how to do a make your own face mask. But that’s so morbid and hard to think about. So I hope you’ll understand this call.

Stay safe and at home readers. Kill those germs and find peace. Thanks for taking the time to read anything I write and share.

Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog

*Original Photo Taken*

Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog

In honor of National Puppy Day, which is celebrated on March 23rd, I came up with some of my favourite types of canines. Some of them are from personally working with the breed to special connections.

#1. German Shepherds: The current family dog we have is a German Shepherd Rescue mix. He has the markings but also probably has part collie in him too. So, therefore, we have the representation. I have found that they make great family dogs. They have a little bit of fierceness in them as well as intelligence.

#2. Golden Retrievers: The ultimate family dog. Most of the time, they are kind, loyal and smart. This was our family dog growing up. She I think lived to be about fourteen and will always be special to my dad. I love how their fur is not just the golden yellow color. Some of them come in white too.

Notable Mentions:
- Rescue :)
- Bernese Mountain Dogs
- Newfoundlands
- Basset Hounds

While, I might be a little biased, dogs make great pets. Good for company and having someone to take care of.

Being Introverted

For a long time now, I’ve considered myself being an introvert. That doesn’t mean shy or stand-off-ish. It just means sometimes I need my space and to be left alone. These past few days, granted, have been a little busier with my family home, but haven’t been all that bad. It will be bad if I can’t do anything these upcoming weeks. Keeping my absolute have to be somewhere’s to a minimum to almost nothing. I know the extroverts out there are having a harder time then we. But in all sincerity, staying at home is one of my favorite things to do sometimes. I don’t mind small groups of people and can even tolerate large numbers to a point before anxiety kicks in. Social media does help make us feel more connected, like we’re going somewhere without ever having to really leave. Or the opposite. Being somewhere else and taking us some place different. So whatever’s online try to keep posting normal or upbeat. It’s so easy to give into the virus. I myself have only done it a little bit, even though, it’s very much on my mind. So here’s a list of some of my favorite other things to past the time:

- Streaming, Watching actual cable or dvds
- Sketching or arts and crafts
- Playing with my dog
- Coming up with ideas for my living space
- I occasionally read and/or listen to music

Thoughts On A Page

*Original Photo Taken*

In my opinion, through observation, the cherry blossoms came early this year and I still have yet to grasp a picture of their beauty. The picture is from the gardens around this time last year. Before things got restricted from the virus, I had intentions of going out and reliving the experience. I guess there’s always fall and I have yet to see it them in the cool, crisp autumn air. But I was transported to another world when I saw a recent photo of the tree alley through another’s lense. Ah gardens, a lovely place to be, but home isn’t so terrible either. With a roof, a fireplace and WiFi.

The virus is not completely taking over our lives but it is something we cannot get through a conversation without. I probably went to one of my last trips of the grocery store stocking up on favorites and snacky items. I limited myself in just going to the doctor’s office for an injection. Something that is oh so necessary and do I say, even vital. Both my parents are at work. My mother is a teacher, who went to the school grounds knowing this could be one of the last times doing so. My father is in finances, at an engineering company, and I don’t know exactly what all he does in a typical day but I imagine an office with a phone ringing.

I always call it researching when I surf the web and find other really motivational and inspiring bloggers. Sometimes it’s how they perceive things and able to capture it really well. Well, anyways, I missed putting myself through the narrative. Being able to just flat out write life.

With the virus going on, life is of the essence, fill it with lots of sunflowers and happiness that is enjoyed. Whether that be a good cup of caffeine, sunlight streaming through a window, or just being with the ones we love. Be in good health friends.

Let Your Light Shine

Last summer, something I enjoyed was catching fireflies. No, they didn’t scare me. There’s kind of an overgrown area that’s a little hidden from down the road of where we live. It never lit up for me when it crawled around on my hand but maybe that’s a good thing. Since fireflies shine their bright light when they attracting another insect. That fact is more typically found in males.

I love their meaning and it’s symbolicism. It is definitely a sign of summer, for me. Not just that but also brings magic and a sense of wonder. It’s like being a kid again when you’re an adult. That the sometimes chaotic ness becomes quieter just for a moment. To some, a firefly can just seem ordinary. Especially, if it’s during the day, but once when night comes around, they shine. This means that things are not always as they seem.

Sometimes we should all be more like a firefly letting hope and joy fill our paths.

Pinkish Thoughts on Women’s Day

“Real queens fix each other’s crowns.”

Today is International Women’s Day and I want to take the time on this blog to write about why pink is a popular and favorite color among females of all different ages. For myself, I can honestly say, I don’t really own any clothing that is of the bright hue. I’m more of a purple gal. That doesn’t mean I don’t dislike the color. It’s just a little scarce in my closet. At a recent baby shower I attended to, the color theme was a lovely pink, white and gold. It was a happy event and the couple in particular is of my own family. I remember a bedroom in my grandparents house decorated in pink wallpaper, growing up. Its a color that has been in different aspects of my life. Whether I’ve known it to be there or not.

So how does pink affect people? According to one online article, both men and women wore the color. It was just another color. It can be referred to in literature or entertainment such as Little Women and The Great Gatsby. Other figures wore it too such as Marilyn Monroe or Mamie Eisenhower. Current examples are Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter and Regina George from Mean Girls.

What does color psychology say about pink and it’s cause? Well, it says the meaning represents compassion, nurturing and love. It is ultimately a sign of hope. This makes sense to me because the color pink is also associated with breast cancer awareness. The first sign of the ribbon goes back to 1979. It is also the leading cause of death in women all around the world.

**In addition, I also want to explain the picture chosen and quote. Because while it’s not so much related to the actual topic of this blog article, it does wholey capture a perspective on the non traditional holiday. Meant to inspire and create a spark from within. Something that pink does for so many people too.**

What does pink mean to you? How do you know the color is in your life?

Part of the Playlist

I liked the Dixie Chicks growing up and I believe their album Wide Open Spaces was one of the first albums I owned. I was listening to an old cd by them recently to find it had a skip in some of the best songs. That cd was hard to find then and would be harder to find now. But on the plus side you can listen to them through Amazon Prime. I’m still adjusting to their sound with Gaslighter that was released recently through social media. I thought it could be fun to make a list of some of my old favorites by them:

#1. Cowboy Take Me Away
#2. Traveling Soldier
#3. Wide Open Spaces
#4. You Were Mine
#5. Not Ready To Make Nice

Be In Good Health

It’s impossible to not turn on the television and hear about coronavirus. In all honesty, it freaks me out a little. So what is this outbreak? Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that cause illnesses from the common cold to more severe. They are zoonotic, which means they can be transmitted between both animals and people. I found this information through World Health org.

How to help prevent it:
- Wash your hands! If it helps you can sing in your head the abc song or happy birthday twice.
- Don’t touch your face. I am now extremely aware of when this happens and took it for granted, when I had the chance. Apparently, according to one Huffington post article, awareness is a key step to breaking the habit.
- Your supposed to stay home if you are sick.

I believe that the first sighting of this was in the state of Washington, in the United States. So there you have it from this little personal/lifestyle blog. An article about a current event that is happening.

Long Hair Don’t Care

*Original Photo Taken*
Shown to demonstrate how much longer my hair is

Why I Let My Hair Grow Out

I think the last time I got a haircut was around this time last year. Before my vacations, so it looked nice and pretty. I usually get my hair cut twice a year. Last year I also experienced a different change by going to a new stylist, since my old one went out of business. I don’t expect to get the same hair cutter I had a year ago because they might have left. I always seem to get a new one. As long as they know the basics such as angling hair. *It seems weird when trying to use the word angles.* Or layers and getting several inches cut off.

I predict when I do decide to finally give my hair a snip, that it might be a little hard. We’ve been through many things such as some pieces falling out every night I wash my hair. I usually think that’s pretty normal actually. This is the longest my hair has been. I still want to keep it long but not as much in length.

I like being able to wear pony tails or have my hair up in unique styles. As of lately though, I feel as though it’s up too much especially while eating. I feel more like myself with long hair. Not so much Repunzelesque but just the girly, feminine feeling. There are so many pictures of me with short hair. It’s refreshing for a change.

I think long hair looks great.

Gilmore Girl Wannabe

The Rory Character

I am a fan of the television show Gilmore Girls. It’s been seventeen years since we said bon voyage to the lovely mother daughter team. I am rewatching it for the third time and have a personal preference to a character’s timeline.

Rory Gilmore is a fictional character who is from the town of Stars Hollow. She has a love for books, coffee and her mother. However, as I watch I find myself missing the high school Rory verses the college Rory. College wasn’t a given in the show. She had to work hard for what she got. The show continues into the only daughters college years at a preppy, high class, fine education center. I relate to the high school Rory more. During this time in her life, I feel as though she was a better friend, and while she had romantic relationships she wasn’t all boy crazy, and in a freakish way really enjoyed school. Through all these things she still maintained a close relationship with her mother and books.

When she went to college, she didn’t remain true to herself. She sort of becomes out of character. I won’t give away too many spoilers but she kinda grows up. Goes on to want to study journalism but it takes her a while to want it. She faces obstacles and challenges in various aspects of life. A little disappointment, since so much of the show was hyped up about how these would be great years for the character. I disagree that it it made her a way better character.

I admire the high school Rory verses the college Rory. I always like the original series more than the new additions, such as A Year In A Life. Same with Harry Potter. Don’t follow what happens afterwards or pay attention to other franchises just like the basic storyline. I recommend this television show cause not only is it something I remember watching growing up but a mostly feel good show about how important family relationships are in life.

Names To Love

*Original Picture Taken*

My Favorite Name Brands

I want it to be understood that I simply do not understand some very high mantience things. That the ones chosen are usually within reason and look great. It’s okay to be kind to yourself, in some ways. So this is it.

#1. Simply Southern: I love this clothing line! They are affordable and have cute designs. I have enough where I can probably wear one every day of the week. I even think they are starting to have a male line now. In addition, sometimes their clothes help save the turtles.

#2. Live Lokai: While I only bought one bracelet last year, and it’s too small, I still follow them and awe over their many colors and patterns. I love how they also have a collection that gets donated to various charities and organizations. I think one of the words means harmony. Finding balance between hopefulness and being humble.

#3. Spartina 449: This line is a little more upscale but not as high end as some others out there. They are very nice and of high quality. I especially love the purses and jewelry. The patterns are always cute. Big into mermaids since being a company that started by the seaside of a small island, Daufuskie. The name is inspired by cordgrass.

#4. Alex and Ani: is another wonderful jewelry line. Most of the items for sale are affordable. While mostly known, for their charms and bangle bracelets, they also have other pieces such as earrings, rings, etc. Right now they have fandom lines for Friends and Harry Potter.

#5. Pura Vida: Has all the accessories a girl could want. They were founded in Costa Rica and each purchase helps provide full time jobs for other artisans. Pura vida means simple or pure life. Known for colorful string bracelets, they too have other fun items to want. I especially love the rings!

International Love Your Pet Day

It is International Love Your Pet Day and there are a lot of people who are krazy about their pets! But in the best way possible. It is meant to give extra attention to our animal friends. Not just the norm such as dogs and cats but also exotic animals like lizards, ferrets, birds, etc. There are little things you can do today and most days to help increase happiness. It is always celebrated on February 20th.

#1. Give them a special treat.
#2. Give them a hug, hold their paw or pay extra special attention.
#3. Play with them and their toys.
#4. Take a picture and share on social media.
#5. Donate to animal charities.

Enjoy this fun non traditional holiday.

The Happiest and the Saddest

In an episode of one of my favorite television shows, One Tree Hill, Ellie and Peyton discus music when going over Ellie’s records. One of the things they talk about is the happiest song they’ve ever heard and the saddest. Inspired I thought I would try it.

The Happiest Song I’ve Ever Heard:

Anything by the artist Adele. She is a British musician who has out three albums. Granted not all of her music is happy. In fact, one of her albums is kinda like a break up one. But whenever I hear her music on the radio I don’t get tired of it. I can listen to it repeatedly. That’s why I just choose her individually. Hometown Glory, Chasing Pavements, Rumour Has It and the River Lea are just a few of my favorites. Also, her music helps calm me down. Not to go to such lengths but it would be like the harp in Harry Potter taming the beast. Adele to get out of that phunk or to help mellow out.

And now for The Saddest Song I’ve Ever Heard:

Sure there are probably a few that strongly fit this category but I won’t go there. It would be Perfect by Ed Sheeran. I love this album and it’s one of my favorites but this song came at a really hard thing I was going through. It sounds like a wedding song. It came on at work one time and a coworker at the time had said I love this song and I’m like I don’t. They were like really, you wouldn’t want this? It’s not that but there are times when I find myself hard picturing myself with a romantic partner. I automatically play some other station when it airs.

So there you have it. My music taste is a little unusual I’ll admit it but it’s not so weird.

Quotes About Grace

“Be known for your kindness and grace.”

“She has fire in her soul and grace in her heart.”

“Grace can take you places hustling can’t.”

“Wherever life plants you, bloom with grace.”

“Give yourself a little grace.”
