Gold Lettering Diy

* My Own Original Artwork *

Hello all.

I’m feeling rather creative at the moment with this new art project I’ve been doing.

I saw it through Pinterest and wanted to share. It’s how to get gold lettering. I use gold deco foil and a  Kuretake squeezable glue pen. I also use Strathamore artist tiles for paper. Surprisingly, I did better on the black ones verses the white.

First, what I did, which I also found useful, was to prewrite what I wanted to say on the paper. I would keep the words as simple as possible and avoid long phrases. It becomes harder to use and get the foil in the right places. Once then word is chosen and written out on the sheet of paper, use the glue pen to go over the writing. Try to go as light as possible. This is really important because if it is too thick then it even takes a longer time to dry. The glue starts out as blue but once it drys it becomes clear. Once it is completely done, then put the pretty side of the foil UP and press hard. Don’t let it smudge. Use your fingers or a rolling rubber stamp to get the paper to stick. If it starts to curl then it’s time to lift it up.

Then it looks beautiful. With me it took several tries to finally get it right. I used almost a whole roll and several blank sheets of paper. You may not get it perfectly on the first try and that is okay. It does eventually get better with the more you use it.

Some people like to use a laminator for best results. I also found it hard to shop for the deco foil. I got mine from Amazon. The glue pen wasn’t that bad and can be found at a local craft store.

There you have it. Beautiful gold lettering that will impress your friends.

Confession Time

If truth be told, I really haven’t been wanting to blog. Not quit all in entirely but come back when it’s right. I’m hoping this is just a phase or writing block and that in the new year I will be back creating. I love to write and thinking of new ideas. But even so the brain sometimes exhausts itself. The holidays have been really inspiring. From writing Christmas themed ones to the normal stuff. I might even be thinking of new beginnings.

I think part of the reason for this dry spell is because I normally switch blogs. Start all over. But I’m trying to do right by this self named one and keep at it. At, least with the promise of the year.

Thanks for understanding and bearing with me as I keep deciding. What would you guys like to see more of? Is there anything you want to know about me? Should I keep incorporating myself into more blog posts? Like with personal stories or side notes? Anyways, a lot to look forward in the upcoming months.

Something Called Grace

As of lately, one of my favorite things have been a word called grace. I’ve been finding quotes and word images that have been so inspiring. I don’t think it’s something I come without but something I only use if necessary. Like if the situation calls for it. It’s kind of like a shimmering light that guides the lost back onto their path. Grace is also like the warmest blanket that makes us feel safe and warm. Grace. Just grace. Or graceful. There’s an art to it.

I’m not just talking about how it’s used in the Bible or a name for girls. An elephant can kind of be graceful with how large, old and wise they are. The definition, according to the Google search engine,  is simple elegance or refinement of movement. The history of the word comes from Middle English, Old French and Latin. Loosely compared to grateful.

So the next time you have yourself a cup of whatever it is you like to sip on, then I hope you think of what makes you graceful. Or what grace means to you? Is it like a swan who flaps its wings over a blue lake? Live your days with grace.

Grace. Just graceful.

Room Sweet Room

Room Sweet Room

I have an opportunity within the next year, where there’s an overall positive change. The task is getting a new room. I like to think of it as a makeover. I want it to really reflect my personality and what I like. That the colors flow naturally with each other. And may it be a little neater than it has been. I know there won’t be as much stuff hung on the walls because that’s still being kept at a medium. I would like a desk tray for doing fun, recreational stuff. Usually, I’m pretty against taking technology into a space used for sleeping. I might have my phone next to me on the stand besides but that’s it. I listen to music, read a book or just use it for sleep. My dog enjoys it too sometimes. The bed is just one important part of the room. There’s also the closet, which currently is small. In this new space, there will be a bigger wardrobe. I am most concerned about my jewelry items because I don’t want my necklaces to get all tangled in the process. I’ve been trying to do some looking into on that but haven’t found anything that useful yet.

As of right now, I’m thinking a sunflower theme. Or at least, yellow and blue. So that way I don’t grow old of the sunflowers. The walls will be a neutral color so there will pops of color along the way. I was in cleaning mode, recently, and got rid of a bunch of liquids I no longer use and make up I hardly wear. Still got a ways to go but when I start feeling stressed or anxiety I start to clean. It’s something I can be in control of and will help me feel calmer. Knowing I’m doing something about it.

I know it won’t be like a model bedroom but it will still be mine.

My Favorite Outfit

It’s not a secret, I’m not big into fashion. Never been the kind of girl whose into huge designer labels or had to have the latest trend. Yes, I can be faulted for nice things from time to time but as a whole I don’t get into the fuss. Plus, my big thing for updating an outfit is with a little bit of sparkle. However, most of wardrobe is pretty casual with t shirts, long sleeve shirts, cardigans and blue jeans.

My favorite outfit, especially this time of year, is a fleece jacket, a tank top and denim. There is something so satisfying and so gosh darn comfortable about kind of wearing a blanket with you wherever you go. Then having something lightweight underneath to avoid being too warm. It’s a step up from sweatpants and definitely far from a ball gown.

I like going to malls to shop for other items and almost dislike going for actual clothes. I have a tricky size and while I’ve gotten better about my body type there are still times when it’s never enough. I came across an interesting version of a clothing store online from another popular retailer, where the sizes were more body friendly. I liked this and wondered why I actually haven’t seen a store verses just a website. But glad it’s out there, regardless. Might have to try it sometime.

However, going back to my favorite outfit, it always makes me feel like myself and very cozy. It’s one of the most simplest looks you can do but it’s oh so right.

1 Month Bloggiversary

Hi y’all.

Yesterday marked the one month old anniversary of my blog. I’m really proud of myself because I’ve kept it this long and have been frequently writing. I only wanted to change it once and then stopped myself because I would be more willing to tell people about it if it were personally named verses a unique domain. It’s something I always knew I had it in me but didn’t have the right whatever to keep up with one. Let’s see what it will be like in six months from now, which will be June. It won’t be ridiculously hot yet and the sunflowers probably won’t be out yet. No. Some schools will be letting out then. Anyways, here’s what I think about it so far:

- It’s great for an outlet. Ever just want to share what’s going on in your life? Than this is that.

- For me, it’s more personal. While I try to write in a more article format, I do also incorporate what I think and feel. To hopefully let the audience gain a better understanding of this blogger.

- The experience: It wasn’t so much scary for me as it might be for others. Writing is something that I’ve always liked to do and then you get to post it online. It was just a matter of being more open.

Maybe in the future months ahead I’ll learn more ways to expand an audience. Maybe I’ll completely change my writing style. Maybe I’ll, maybe I’ll, maybe I’ll just enjoy being able to express my thoughts and ideas. As always, thanks for reading and following along.

Single And Ready To Eat A Pringle

I was just casually looking online and came across an interesting quote by the lovely and talented Emma Watson. She has recently announced herself as self partnered, which is an alternative word for single. She used the term in an issue of Vogue magazine.

I have been enjoying the solitude most of my life and have a few thoughts on being single myself. There have been men interested but none of them took it to the next level. For the past several years, things have been so quiet you’d think men have turned into mice or something. Hey, at least I know, despite my experience, that not all of them are rats. Or like an Audrey Hepburn. So what do I do in all that free time I have to myself? I do things I love and spend with people who don’t take the peace away from me. I don’t have anyone to tell me I can’t not do something, I can do whatever I want when I want and I don’t have anyone telling me which lifestyle is best for me.

In fact, I’ve begun to question whether there is the right guy out there for me. That maybe marriage isn’t in the cards for me. I mean I’ve been single this long haven’t I? I wear fun rings on my hand just because you’ve got to have something sparkly every once in a while. I do that for myself. Some days its easy to embrace this possibility and other days it gets serious. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me in that area. That I’m a girl too.

So the term self partnered is something that I wouldn’t necessarily call myself. But there are a few other celebrities I can relate with in terms of dating and that sort of thing. Being single is a time to get to enjoy your own company. That’s okay with me.

Note From The Blogger

Note From The Blogger:

I had all good intentions of doing the whole 12 Days of Christmas. However, when upon actually writing it is harder to write about the same topic for an extended period of time. Not that I can’t not write about the holiday season ever again, just not for consecutive days straight. It is still pretty early to enjoy the merriment. So it is my decision to say I did five days of Christmas. At least, there’s the five golden rings this year. I applaud those who are still keeping at it and going forth with whatever blogging exercise they chose to peruse. Christmas is great to get the creative juices flowing and makes you really think about, which kind of subjects to post.

Thanks.

Snowflake

Today’s post is inspired by the new Disney film, Frozen 2. While this isn’t a tag line for the movie, I did think of it because of all the winter, ice and cold themes that they’ve got going on. I was reminded of the phrase, ‘no two snowflakes are alike.’ Where I live, it doesn’t snow like how it does in some other places. If there are hints of snow flurries in the air, people will rush towards the store for bread and milk. Leaving them as if it where a ghost town. I don’t remember too many white Christmases either, just in other States, if visiting family. But going back to the saying, it is meant that each one is a little different. That they’re so different that no multiple ones are the same.

However, upon writing this blog post; as I do some research on the expression, there seems to be some information that proves this classic wrong. So now it’s more like, which to believe?

I’m in favor of the quote. Not just because I understand words but because I think it’s applicable to many situations. That even a situation can be a little obscure like a snowflake. Individual and unique in its own way. That by many can be considered beautiful. How we handle them is what matters.

So this winter, I will try to make a point, to not grumble of the frost that seeps on my car in the morning or how many times I leave my coat at work because it’s now needed. But maybe appreciate it from afar. Like admiring how interesting it is from a window by a cozy, warm fire.

The Pony Bead Christmas Tree

*Original Pictures Taken*

If you’re looking for a fun, easy creative project to do then look no further. There is the pony bead Christmas tree. You can use all kinds of different ribbons and colorful beads.

A big thank you to a different blog through the Pinterest site in able to help make me use these as they were the steps I took to make it.

You need a yard of skinny ribbon whether that be green, black or red. Pony beads; I used red, green, silver, gold and yellow. (I made a few.)

- Cut about 3 feet of ribbon and fold in half. Then make a loop at the top and tie a knot.

- Slide the yellow or gold bead on the right side of the string. Then use the left string and put it through the beads on the other side.

- Keep doing this about eight times and switching, between right and left, for different rows. Also adding on a new bead everytime. So the next line would have two beads. The following would have three, etc.

- If you want at the end to add a tree stump then go back to either two or three beads in a brownish color. Or you can do what I did and add alphabet word beads to personalize it.

- Tying the knots on either side can be a little tricky. You want to make sure they’re big enough and tight enough so they don’t slip and slide or fall off.

And there you have it. The pony bead Christmas tree. Hope you enjoy it.

Traditional Vs. Trendy

Not my original picture

As some of you may know already, I have strayed from the classic Christmas tree this year to participate in the sunflower Christmas tree. I instantly feel happier when I look at the bright, yellow flowers in ornaments. With that and the feel good Christmas mood, it’s affective. I enjoy putting personal ornaments on the tree but I also find that it’s okay to do something a little different. Granted my tree is not as full as a normal tree but while doing research, found there are many types of evergreen trees for the holiday. Such as fraser fir, Douglas fir and Colorado blue spruce to name a few. There are also different ways to decorate a personal tree. From pink or white trees to vintage ornaments to gold blue colors. There’s a tree for everyone.

Then there’s even the Christmas book tree. It’s for all the bibliophiles out there. While I have not personally tried it or seen a real life one, I do think it’s a different kind of magic. How there’s all these other ideas that are suited to the person.

‘Tis the season to decorate

*Original Photo Taken*

I’ve always thought that you weren’t supposed to put up Christmas decorations until December or at least wait until after Thanksgiving. Sometimes in our household decorations are constantly being worked on because it takes awhile to set everything up. This year I decided to change that and am guilty of putting my little tree up the Monday of Thanksgiving. I couldn’t wait anymore and have been preparing since Halloween. Yes, I know it seems early but it doesn’t stop at the tree. It continues with fashion choices, such as getting a cute shirt to wear throughout the month of December. Some other people in my family, on the other hand, love putting up their decorations a little on the early side. They have good, solid reasons such as other plans and wanting to enjoy them longer.

One reason why people put up Christmas decorations early, according to an article, is that it reminds them of childhood. That Christmas can be very nostalgic. Reminds people of the past and links to understanding themselves better. Another reason is, it just creates happiness. It makes me then think of the Grinch.

Putting the articles aside, I found it to be fun to put up my Christmas tree. Other decorations being worked on are the lights outside. I don’t know if the person doing it would call that fun but will enjoy it the holiday season. Would you put up your decorations early or wait until a more appropriate time?

Theirs A First Time For Everything

Happy First of December y’all. I am going to be doing some Christmas themed posts over the next several days but today wanted to talk about fresh starts and beginnings. Especially since it’s almost the new year of 2020, which can’t believe it’s so close. I used to take a human resource class, because that’s what I was studying at the time, and always remember them teaching us it’s the year to look out for. I mean, even the Disney remake of Mulan is an anticipated release in movies. It also brings us to the true purpose of this blog, which is being able to document my way through it. I want something to remember it by and with a personal name can write in it more if I’d like. Although I suspect, I’d still be writing even if it weren’t.

It’s only eight ish o clock in the morning and it’s been a cold, wet and rainy weekend here. Surviving by wearing the most comfortable of clothes, being surrounded by family and kinda glued to a technical device. With the sweetest dog ever to be by my side.

Starting over can sometimes be scary because depending on the close of one chapter in life it’s hard to pick yourself up again and have a clean slate. It’s also necessary sometimes. I kind of feel this way about social media. Sometimes you just have to start from scratch and build up. Fresh starts give you a chance to do something you really want to do right this time. They allow you to be more free about it. Nothing holding anyone back. Beginnings are a lot like that first line in a really good book you love. From Harry Potter to the Great Gatsby to something more young adult. They catch your attention, which makes you want more. Wanting more out of life with friends and family to help through those times. In the end, realizing glad it’s something that had to be experienced.
